Erin Vogel - Senior Youth

I am excited to be working with the youth at OSL! I have always loved working with this age group, and before serving at OSL I taught middle school math for 11 years. I left teaching to stay home with my daughter, but felt God pulling me to work with the youth at OSL. I really enjoy talking with them each Sunday about God’s relevance in their lives, and hanging out with them during monthly fellowship events.  

I grew up in the Lutheran Church and even went to a Lutheran School K-8. I went to undergrad in Southern Kentucky, then moved to Indianapolis after college to teach. My husband, Joe, and I met at a wedding. Since I was living in Indiana and he was living in New York, we dated long-distance until getting married in 2013. We moved to Connecticut the day after the wedding and a short time later found OSL. We loved the services, but what really drew us to OSL was the congregation. OSL is full of amazing people. Since moving here we’ve added 2 children, Ellen and Fritz to our family. Because most of our family is still in Indiana and Long Island, we love having our OSL family here in CT. God has blessed us greatly!  

Other than the youth themselves, one of the best parts of working with the youth is the LCMS Gathering every 3 years. I was honored to attend in 2019 and 2022. and can’t wait to go in 2025!
