Last week I went for a short hike for a time of prayer. As I hiked I reflected on:
Psalm 63:1-3 A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah. “O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. 3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.”
Are we finding our satisfaction in Christ? Or in the fleeting pleasures and experiences of life? Are we hungry for God and His righteousness? Or are we content in our own feeble righteousness–which is no righteousness at all. Are we desperate for God, recognizing the world for what it is–a gift but not the giver. Do we recognize the love of God as the best part of living–or merely the icing on the top?
