Thankful For Eyes That See

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Proverbs 20:12 Ears that hear and eyes that see– the LORD has made them both.

Today, I am again thankful for my “eyes that see.”  No. They are not perfect.  I’ve got a -11 and -12 prescription.  VERY near sighted.  I am at heightened risk for retinal tears.  I am also high risk for glaucoma.  BUT, with glasses and contact lenses I can SEE.  With yearly doctor appointments, I can keep up with the health of my eyes and hopefully spot and treat and potential problems.  So, I am very thankful.

Somersville Pond Paddle

Monday, June 14th, 2010

On Friday night, I went kayaking with two of my sons, a friend and his son.  We went to Somersville Pond and paddled a little ways up into the Scantic River.  It was a beautiful evening.  We saw lots of birds and some waterfowl.  Many ducks (and some ducklings) Great Blue Heron, red-wing black-bird, goldfinch (among others.)  We also got to see a beaver swimming along ahead of us.  Two boys are convinced they saw a racoon swim across their path while we were up ahead a ways.  It was a nice evening.

My Rating for this place:

Animal Life: A

Plant Life: B

Tranquility: B-

Over-all Beauty: B

Interest:  (New category–deals with variety of places to paddle.  Big lakes will have, generally low interest.  A place with lots of variety, channels and things to explore will get high marks here.) A

Bronx Zoo Peacock

After a week away from my kids, I decided to take a day to spend some time with them.  So, yesterday, we went down to the Bronx Zoo for the day.  What a blast!  Sure, it’s a little effort to get this family of six out the door and down to NYC, but it was FUN.  We couldn’t possibly take it all in, but we did get to see some great critters.

The beauty and diversity of God’s creatures always amazes me.
